Proverbs 18:21 contains a sober warning: "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Our words possess immense power to heal, encourage, or destroy.

1. Words Reveal the Condition of the Heart

Jesus taught in Luke 6:45 that out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Gossip, criticism, and bitterness indicate a heart in need of Holy Spirit healing.

2. Using Speech to Build Up Others

Ephesians 4:29 instructs: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs." Speak words of scripture, peace, and blessing over your family and community.
